When should you go see a GP doctor?
We care about your overall well-being and seek to maintain and protect your health. By evaluating your health problems and needs on a regular basis, our GP doctors will be able to build a detailed medical history for you. Visit your GP doctor for:
- Minor injuries and illnesses
- Ongoing care (if you have a chronic condition)
- Vaccinations (Flu, HPV, travel, immunisation)
- Health advice
- Pregnancy care
- Care for children
- Care if you’re feeling depressed or emotionally troubled
- A medical certificate or report about an injury
- Health screening, such as blood pressure checks or cervical screening

How do I access the GP Service?
The GP Service is open to all clients with a Medicare card and are conveniently located at our Prahran and South Melbourne sites.

Monday to Friday 8.30 to 5:00pm
Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm
Friday 9:00am – 12:00pm

My Health Record
The national digital health record, previously known as the ‘personally controlled electronic health record’, has been renamed My Health Record. My Health Record is a summary of your health information and available to your GP Doctors and GP Practice nurses. From January 1st all Australians records will automatically be included. Information is stored securely and record includes:
- Medicines you are taking
- Medical conditions
- Recent tests
- Other information you may wish to add.
You are able to manage your record through the My Health Record Australian Government website or to opt-out If you wish. We have brochures and information available at our South Melbourne and Prahran centres.
Health Care Homes
Star Health is pleased to announce that our GP Practices are participating in the Australia-wide Health Care Home pilot program over the next 18 months.
For patients with several chronic illnesses, Star Health can become your health care home, a one–stop place for all your health needs. We will work with you to develop a care plan which includes your GP Doctor and our Nurses, as well as specialist staff such as diabetes nurse and physiotherapist. Your care will be coordinated by a team dedicated to you. You may be invited to join and registration is voluntary. If you are interested, please speak to our Practice Nurse or your GP doctor or visit Health Care Homes.
