AOD Counselling for Family and Affected Others

Family and affected other counselling services are offered at Star Health offices at Prahran, South Melbourne, St Kilda and Bentleigh.

Families play a central role in supporting people experiencing problematic alcohol and other drug issues. There can be many challenges which family members face when trying to balance their own wellbeing and that of the person they are supporting.

The Family Alcohol and Other Drug Program provides a range of co-occurring capable services to respond to the needs of families impacted by substance use and other related conditions. The program focuses on building skills that provide the opportunity for families to come together and increase their understanding of substance use and other related conditions, as well as develop the tools to cope with related issues more confidently and effectively.

The Family AOD Service provides individual, couples or family counselling. This can include the person with the substance use problem if they are comfortable attending.
