Access to Star Health Services in Context of COVID-19

As a part of the local health system Star Health remains open and committed to providing the best care and support for our clients and to staff.  However, some of our work will move to telephone-based or online appointments to minimise the risk of COVID-19 exposure, as outlined below.

Service changes have occurred in line with the advice of the Victorian Chief Health Officer and will be continually reviewed with changes made based on official advice.

Minimising Risk

If you are a client, and believe you have symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come into our centres but rather call reception on 9525 1300. Any clients who have symptoms will be isolated and screened to determine if they are at risk; it is vital that we prioritise the health and safety of our staff and clients and those in our wider community.

We continue to encourage the use of good infection control practices, including washing hands for 20 seconds with soap, as well as maintaining physical distancing strategies. These are in practice across all our sites.

Star Health is Open

Star Health’s services will remain open, although please call before attending one of our sites.  It remains our priority to continue offering health services to our clients.

All face-to-face group activities and events are suspended.

Our needle syringe services continue to operate as normal.

Due to the rapidly changing situation we will continue to update you on our responses to COVID-19.

Appointments

All service appointments including GP are being managed following the latest advice from the Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer and the Victorian Chief Health Officer. We will continue to update information about accessing our GP services as medical recommendations change.

If there are changes to your existing appointments with our other services (including dental, counselling, AoD and allied health), our staff will be in contact.  We are moving many services to phone-based to minimise staff and client travel and only proceeding with face-to-face appointments where necessary.

Referrals

We remain committed to continuing to provide services where possible, with an emphasis on non-face-to-face interventions where possible. We will endeavour to remain open for referrals wherever we can.

Outreach

We will continue to support the clients that we outreach to or provide with care coordination or case management services. However, unless essential, all support will be provided non-face-to-face.

If you have questions call your Star Health worker or 9525 1300
